JEDDAH: The Ministry of Labor and Social Development has deployed inspectors across the country to ensure that 50 percent Saudization plan of the cell phone industry is enforced by Ramadan 1 (June 6).
The ministry had earlier this year ordered that the industry must be fully Saudized by Sept. 2 or Dul Hijjah 1, a local publication reported Wednesday.
Khaled bin Abdulaziz Abalkhail, spokesman of the ministry, said the inspections would be carried out with the support of two ministries — commerce and investment, and municipal and rural affairs. All businesses in the sector must comply, he warned.
Abalkhail said that the government was committed to ensuring that Saudis are employed after receiving the proper training. In addition, the support programs offer incentives and grants for Saudi entrepreneurs, and can be accessed through its website (http://www.sotm.info).
He said 19,000 Saudi men and 4,000 women are ready to embark on new careers in the mobile industry following their training on customer service, sales and maintenance, supported by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation and the Human Resources Development Fund.
He urged companies, business owners and job seekers to visit the national labor gateway (Taqat) through the following link (https://www.taqat.sa) to sign up and post job vacancies in the telecoms sector. The new graduates can register with Taqat and review job opportunities in order to submit their applications, he said.
