Mohammad Mustafa Azmi Qasmi, a Saudi national of Indian origin and the winner of the King Faisal International Prize for his services to Islam, launched a Hadith presentation in Riyadh on Friday.

Speaking at the event, Azmi said, “I used to think that the Orientalists are ignorant to Qur'an and Hadith, but after 50 years of in-dept study I have arrived at the conclusion that this perception is not true.”

Azmi has served as a professor of Hadith terminology in Umm Al-Qura and King Saud universities.

Numerous books on Hadith were published after his research, especially the Arabic translation of his thesis, which is a part of the syllabus in various universities.

Akhtarul Wasey, director of the Zakir Hussain Institute of Islamic Studies, also launched a book “Islahi Mazameen” and an electronic book “Akhbarut Tanzeel” which is a compilation of the prophecies of the Qur’an and Hadith by the late renowned scholar and freedom fighter Maulana Mohammad Ismail Sanbhali.

Maulana Badrul Hassan Qasmi, vice president of the Islamic Fiqh Academy in India and advisory committee member of Imam Mohammad Bin Saud University in Riyadh, also attended the event with senior officials from Kuwait’s Ministry of Awqaf.

Wasey congratulated Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi for doing scholarly works from time to time and said that “must be translated into different languages.”

Qasmi applauded the services of the personalities involved in the promotion of Hadith.

He said, “A man is known for two things: First, his personality and second, the passion for his work.”

The Hadith sciences were presented in a clear and lucid presentation designed by Alamgir Khan which can be seen on YouTube. A website has been launched in this regard which is benefitting hundreds of people.

The program was attended by a number of Indian and Pakistani community members. It was an auspicious occasion for Indian intellectuals and Islamic scholars who were honored with the presence of the three great personalities of not only India but also of the Islamic world.
