JEDDAH: The Ministry of Civil Service, which announced a number of job opportunities for health sector diploma holders, has added a condition that there should be no gaps between jobs or in the career of applicants, according to an online newspaper.
Those who graduated with a diploma in health told the newspaper that they had a gap in their careers and worked in areas other than the health sector. This has made their registration invalid.
Ammash Al-Shammai, a health diploma holder, said that that people in his position have lost hope of employment. Five years after graduation, they are now facing the obstruction of renewal which necessitates them taking an examination after training in an authorized hospital. He said that there are a huge number of diploma holders working in non-health sectors to meet their day-to-day needs.
He called for proper evaluation of the situation by the Ministry of Civil Service and the health specialty authority before announcing such jobs. They should advertise jobs well in advance so that those interested can renew their registration and get training in a specific time frame. They cannot leave their current jobs and go for the training required for renewal. Now their future is uncertain, he said.
Abdullah Al-Zahyan, director of media and public relations at the Saudi authority for health specializations, said that the priorities of the authority are that health practitioners have full capabilities and skills to practice the profession.
He said that for the capabilities and skills, continuation of work was necessary so that the authority is confident that the candidate will be successful in his or her job.
In these situations, it is necessary for candidates to renew their registration proving successful training in one of the authorized hospitals and taking the examination once again before registering anew. This is required due to the gap in their career, he said.
