JEDDAH: Two Border Guard soldiers were killed by enemy fire in the border town of Dhahran Al-Jonoub in Asir province on Wednesday. Five others were injured in the incident.

“While discharging their duties at one of the border posts in Dhahran Al-Janoub in Asir province, some Border Guard soldiers came under fire from Yemeni territory causing the death of Pvt. Mufreh Al-Qahtani and Pvt. Fahd Hamza.

The five others injured in the shelling were taken to hospital,” said spokesman of the Interior Ministry Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki.

Meanwhile, an officer of the jail patrol, Corp. Ali Al-Qarni, who was injured by enemy fire three weeks ago, died at the armed forces hospital in Riyadh on Wednesday, according to an official statement. He was in the company of Corp. Hayyan Al-Wadie, who was killed instantly when the rockets hit them. Al-Qarni was declared brain dead because shards of a shell had pierced his skull.

Al-Qarni, who is survived by his wife and two children, was an undergraduate student at King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah.

When Al-Qarni’s patrol car was hit by Houthi shells on King Salman Street in Najran, two passengers in a civilian car, a pedestrian and a laborer at a tire repair shop were also killed, and 11 others injured, according to the spokesman of the Najran Civil Defense.
