JEDDAH: Sergeant Ahmed Al-Mubti of the Saudi ground forces has been killed in Houthi shelling on the southern border in Najran, despite a humanitarian truce by the coalition forces.

“The Sergeant was killed while performing duty to defend the Kingdom from rebels,” coalition forces announced in a statement on Wednesday.

The leadership of coalition forces have announced a seven-day cease-fire starting Tuesday, while retaining the right to respond to any breach of the cease-fire, in response to the Yemeni government’s request.

The coalition confirmed its full commitment to the humanitarian truce in Yemen, despite breaches by the Houthi rebels, who targeted several cities in Yemen and continued shelling on Saudi territory.

Coalition forces also recorded two infiltration attempts at the Al-Jalah military base and Al-Fkhitha mountain.
