Inshallah; to me, it is a word that shows respect for others without making a commitment.

• What is your favorite holiday destination?

Currently, Makkah and Madinah.

• What is your dream country? Where you would like to be posted after leaving Saudi Arabia?

Australia. I was born there, but have never been back since the day I left.

• Which country’s people have you found most friendly?

I have worked and lived in Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia. I find both people very friendly.

• How do you react to or deal with anger?

I just stop whatever I am doing and perform ablution.

• What is your source of strength during tough times?

God and family.

• What was your first impression of the Kingdom?

It’s hot, but surprisingly, when its winter, it gets really cold. This is coming from someone who lived in Uzbekistan, where it gets really cold in winter and can reach -20 Celsius).

• Which Saudi city fascinated you most?

Riyadh (of course) — traditional and modern structures blend together.

• Your favorite Saudi dish?

Chicken Kabsah without a doubt.

• What is one thing will you always remember about the Kingdom?

Hospitality; expect to be spoiled when visiting Saudi friends.

• If you had to choose between Facebook and Twitter, what would you prefer?

Facebook, I think. Is there a difference? It’s like comparing Coke to Pepsi.

• Were you not a diplomat, what would have been your profession?

A teacher perhaps.

• Is hiding the truth acceptable in diplomacy?

Of course not.

• How do you keep yourself fit?

I play badminton quite often.

Al-Baik.

Never been a fan of football or football clubs.

Never had one.

Spending time with my wife and kids.
