JEDDAH: While campaigns for the boycott of Iranian goods have been going on for years in Kuwait on the backdrop of Iranian support for the Syrian regime, similar Saudi campaigns are now being launched in the Kingdom.

The new break in diplomatic relations with Tehran has increased the momentum and effectiveness of these campaigns that have been organized by Saudis on social media as of October.

Some Arab activists on Facebook have also established a page calling for a boycott of Iranian products across all Arab countries which, according to organizers, has been quite successful.

On Twitter, many hashtags regarding the topic have been launched. Gulf citizens have topped the list of those calling for a boycott of the Iranian goods, although the trade exchange between Saudi Arabia and Iran is not large.
