JEDDAH: The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) launched a business training program entitled “entrepreneurship education for young children,” recently.

Forty young children aged between 10 and 15 years participated in the program from different schools in order to learn the basics of business skills under the supervision of the JCCI.

Bandar Al-Amudi, director of the Youth Foundation and executive project manager of the Entrepreneurship Education Program for Young Children, said that the program “Small traders” is a pilot program for the youth of the Kingdom, which aims to spread a culture of financial and commercial awareness among the younger generation and instill an entrepreneurial spirit in them from an early age.

He said that this also aims to enhance their capacity for the implementation of future projects, adding that the project includes two phases: the first phase is a training period during the mid-year vacation, while the second phase enables these small traders to get a chance to apply their training and skills in the Red Sea Mall from the 20th to the 23rd of January, 2016.

He said that they will continue with the experiment twice during the year and will welcome new ideas and models for future projects to create skillful entrepreneurs of the future.

Hussein Noor Wali, supervisor of the program, said that the young traders project was prepared by the Nakhbat Foundation in collaboration with Sama Youth's Consultation and Community Department at the King Abdulaziz University.

Wali explained that a Saudi youth group will work as volunteers to serve the country and nation, and strengthen the idea of becoming independent by harnessing their talents and abilities and leaving a positive imprint on society.
