JUBAIL: A number of Jubail citizens expressed their optimism about the new municipal council which includes qualified candidates, but at the same time they have not forgotten previous council members who dashed their hopes.

The members of the Jubail Municipal Council said that the people of Jubail want the new council to provide them with their needs and

services, and replace the negative image of former councils, demanding cooperation from all government departments with the current council to serve citizens.

Walid Al-Ahmari, a Jubail citizen, said: “Jubail’s former municipal council held several meetings to discuss the needs of the people of the municipality and many citizens submitted their demands, but they have not been achieved completely, and demands continued over the past years, but most of them remained suspended until further notice.”

Al-Ahmari said that neighborhoods still need to be reorganized and expanded, and incomplete projects should be finished, and expressed hope that the current municipal council takes into account the previous problems and works according to a certain vision and strategy to solve them.

Abdul Karim Al-Shammari, another resident, called on the new council to expedite the delivery of basic services to Jubail’s neighborhoods, implement asphalting, lighting and cleanliness in the province, and repairing the potholes in the streets.

He said: “We are awaiting the development of the region and follow-up of the suspended or unfulfilled projects.”

In addition, journalist Mofleh Al-Subaie said: “We hope that the new municipal members fulfill their election promises, as Jubail’s problems are many and must be resolved radically,” explaining that if each member achieves even 10 percent of his platform, there will be tangible and real change in Jubail.
