RIYADH: The Higher Judicial Council has launched an interactive program to gather precise data and statistics of trials to speed cases pending in courts.

Many cases in various courts across the Kingdom are being delayed and the new initiative will help in following up on them so that the fate of the accused is not kept hanging in the balance endlessly, the council said in a statement.

According to the council, trial in 35 percent of cases in criminal courts was completed in one month this year, 62 percent of cases were completed between one month and four months and 3 percent of cases were taken up over four months.
