RIYADH: Arrangements are being made by the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) to hold the First International Remote Sensing Conference in Riyadh on Sunday.

The three-day conference will be held under the patronage of Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and more than 30 local and global companies will display the latest technology in areas of monitoring, radar and remote sensing at an exhibition during the event.

The show will feature international companies such as Airbus, Alto America, Mabinj Solutions and companies from France, Italy, Canada, Argentina, the Netherlands, the United States and Britain.

At the local level, the Ministry of Defense, KACST, Saudi Aramco, High Commission for the Development of Riyadh, Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, General Commission for Survey, King Abdullah Institute for Nanotechnology, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and others will display their products at the show.

According to an official from KACST, the conference is an opportunity for professionals from various fields to share their challenges, needs and views with world-renowned vendors. "This will help unlock the potential for enhancing current business processes and gain competitiveness within an ever-changing business environment."

The conference will provide a forum for professionals and practitioners from different sectors to access the most recent satellite-based and non-satellite-based imaging systems along with a wide range of data acquisition systems. The forum will facilitate knowledge and information sharing between peers and industries, allowing for a broad impact.

The prominent speakers at the conference will include Abdulaziz Al-Saab, chief executive officer of the General Commission for Survey; Prof. Christian Heipke, Leibniz Universität, Hannover, Germany; John Murtagh, Airbus Defense and Space; Johannes Riegl, Jr. Riegl, Austria; Geovanni Marchisio, DigitalGlobe, USA; and Moongyu Kim SI Imaging Services, Korea.
