The second Khalejiat 2014 exhibition is expected to attract more than 9,000 visitors from around the Kingdom and other Gulf countries, said Abeer Arif, president of the exhibition’s organizing committee.
The exhibition, which is held under the auspices of Princess Nouf bint Muqrin, displays products and handicrafts created by artists from around the Gulf region.
The success of the exhibition prompted the organizers to host the event for the second consecutive year during the holy month of Ramadan.
Arif announced that the three-day exhibition would take place on the 8th of Ramadan at the Hilton Hotel in Jeddah, adding that this year a greater number of local designers are participating in the event.
She noted that more than 150 up-and-coming Saudi fashion designers and another 200 new talents from the Gulf are set to display their products at the upcoming event.
Arif explained that the aim of the exhibition is to promote local female entrepreneurs and introduce Saudi and Gulf talents to the community as well as showcase the region’s rich cultural heritage.
“The holy month of Ramadan will give the exhibition a special aura and provide an opportunity for women in Jeddah to get in touch with an authentic sense of the region’s talents,” she said.
“We have also involved a number of productive families to allow them the opportunity to showcase their products and enter the market,” she added.
Anoud Al-Ghalib, a Saudi fashion designer, said Khalejiat 2014 enables Saudi women to introduce their products and helps them overcome the problems they face in the market.
Fatima Al-Amri, the exhibition’s media coordinator, underlined that the event will also serve to facilitate the exchange of creative ideas and business ventures between designers in neighboring countries.
