MAKKAH: The Makkah security patrol apprehended a man in his 20s who posed as a police officer and stole around SR9,000 from a shop in the Abu Moragh neighborhood in Noaryia, Makkah.

Police were alerted by the shop owner about the man driving a Chinese-made car who entered the shop in a police uniform and demanded that he search the owner’s desk and took the cash and fled in the car. A police source said patrol teams quickly launched a combing operation and caught the suspect in less than an hour.

He was arrested and then identified by another man, and was subsequently handed over to the Taneem Police Center.
