RIYADH: A 61-year-old Saudi man was shot dead by another citizen, 39, over a personal dispute. The police found the body in a pool of blood with three gunshots to the chest. The pistol used in the crime was found on the spot with four live cartridges in the chamber.

The police acted on a complaint made by the 29-year-old son of the deceased, who said that the incident had occurred when his father was going to the mosque for the Fajr (dawn) prayer. According to the son, the killer had a grudge against his father for sometime which he presumed led to the murder.

Riyadh police spokesman Col. Fawaz Al-Maiman said the killer was arrested in Al-Qassim based on the plaintiff's description of the killer and his vehicle.

“The suspect was hiding in a desert area in Al-Qassim, some 360 km from the capital. He was captured after an hours-long hunt,” he noted, pointing out that the suspect was hiding in an area located in the suburb of Buraidah.

On arrest, Al-Qassim police handed the alleged killer to Riyadh police for investigation. On completion of their investigation, Riyadh police will produce the suspect before a court of law in the capital for trial.
