NAJRAN: A Saudi man with special needs, wearing a mask, attacked expatriates here using a firearm, according to security sources.

Sources said a report was received from an expat at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday that a masked man carrying a gun and another weapon had attacked them inside a carpentry workshop where they work.

The report indicated that the masked man fired two bullets into the air, barricaded himself in one of the workers’ rooms and threatened to shoot anyone who tried to approach him.

Immediately, teams were dispatched to the site and surrounded all sides of the building, while experts negotiated and convinced the man to give himself up, which he did with no injuries, Al-Riyadh reported.

It was revealed that the attacker was a 28-year-old citizen with special needs, who suffers from psychological problems.

The weapons were seized at the site and the man was referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution by virtue of jurisdiction.
