MAKKAH: A mentally-ill Turkish man killed a Sudanese patient in the Makkah Mental Health Hospital of King Abdul Aziz Hospital in Al-Zahir, a news website has reported, quoting Makkah police.

The Turkish patient, in his 50s, confronted the Sudanese when everybody was busy with iftar and the Maghrib prayer. Shouting “Shaitan, Shaitan,” he beat up the Sudanese, dragged him and threw him from the second floor of the building.

People present at the scene of the crime tried in vain to rescue the Sudanese.

Abdul Wahhab Shilbi, spokesman of the health department of Makkah, confirmed the incident. “Mustafa Baljon, the director general of health affairs in Makkah, was immediately informed and security agencies were notified,” he said.

The Turkish patient has been shifted to another mental health facility in Taif to complete the proceedings.

Col. Aati bib Atiyah Al Qarshi, spokesman of the Makkah police, said that the Taneem police station of the Holy Capital received the report of the incident Monday evening.

He said that the suspect has been arrested and the case is being investigated.
