MAKKAH: The Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution in Makkah sent a citizen in his fifties to the general prison awaiting court sentencing.

The accused is charged with kidnapping a woman in an isolated area near Arafat Road, but she managed to get away from him and seek help from passers-by on the same road.

The woman stopped the car of the accused in Al-Otaibah neighborhood, and because of his age she trusted him and asked him to give her a lift to the electronics exhibition located on the Third Circle, near one of the government hospitals. On their way, the accused took his car to an isolated area near Arafat Road. After questions by the woman he assured her he would take her where she wanted to go.

While in the isolated area he tried to assault and molest her with the intention of raping her. She resisted and ran away, and called for help from people who happened to be in the area. The woman contacted police and with the involvement of security patrols the criminal was caught.

He was identified through clues, evidence and fingerprints and was remanded by the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution to a prison until sentencing. It appeared in the criminal register that the accused had a previous record of doing the same thing in 1998.
