The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has distributed 6.6 million hot and cold meals so far during the Haj season this year. The project reportedly took place based on assessments by specialists and institutions that serve food to pilgrims at the holy sites.

The ministry plans to increase the number of vehicles distributing meals, from the more than 2,000 currently operating. It also intends to increase the provision of coolers and refrigerators at the holy sites by 45 percent to 183.

The ministry is monitoring the availability of food to meet any increase in demand, and inspecting shops to ensure quality food is available for pilgrims.

Inspection teams from the ministry are also checking out fuel stations, particularly those located on major roads between cities, to verify the calibration of supplies, and that no fuel is being mixed with other chemicals. Teams are also inspecting shops selling car tires to verify the safety of products and confiscate unsafe used tires.
