New details have emerged about the mysterious disappearance of a Saudi man in Pakistan 22 years ago.

The cousin of Abdullah Al-Tuwaijri, now 67, has answered many of the questions surrounding the man’s disappearance on social media sites.

Al-Tuwaijri, who told local media that he had initially traveled to Iraq and Iran before reaching Pakistan, affirmed that he has good memories of the 22 years he spent living in Pakistan, saying he had been cared for by a British woman.

“We had searched tirelessly for Abdullah at hospitals, public places and across cities in the Kingdom, but were unsuccessful in our quest,” said Saleh, Al-Tuwaijri’s cousin.

“Sixteen years after he disappeared, we received a call from a dignitary in Arar informing us that Abdullah was seen in Iraq. His brothers had gone to look for him there, but were still unable to find him.”

A month ago, Abdullah’s picture appeared on WhatsApp and authorities were finally able to trace his location to Pakistan.

“We looked for the source, and with the help of the embassy, were able to find him and bring him back home,” said Saleh.

Al-Tuwaijri’s family had lost any hope of finding him after initial search operations had failed.

Faleh Al-Rehaily, the Kingdom’s ambassador to Pakistan, said he had personally contacted the governor and security officials in Sindh and the prime minister, as well as civil society organizations and charities in the region, during the search.

Authorities searched prisons and every possible facility in Karachi, a city with a population of 12 million. Al-Tuwaijri’s brother had also provided an extensive description of his sibling.
