ABHA: Of the total complaints received by the Ministry of Education concerning both boys’ and girls’ schools, 88 percent were about the condition of government buildings, according to official data.
During the months of Rabi Al-Thani and Jumadi Al-Awwal, the ministry received 423 emergency complaints on schools from all parts of the Kingdom. Fifty percent of these complaints were of serious nature. There were 143 complaints from girls' schools, and 74 from boys' schools.
These general complaints concerned nonfunctional sirens, electrical short circuits and suspension of electricity. These were categorized as the most dangerous issues. There were also complaints about floors caving in and construction problems in school buildings.
The report said that there were four injuries in schools, and one death due to collision with the external boundary from outside of boys’ schools. There were no injuries in girls' schools.
