JEDDAH: The Passport Department has launched a new service where members of the public can see whether there are any charges against them, including whether they are allowed to travel.
Maj. Gen. Suleiman Al-Yahya, director general of the Passport Department, said recently the service is available through the Absher system. It was set up in cooperation with the National Information Center of the Interior Ministry, he said.
Most of the Passport Department’s services are already provided electronically. It has urged citizens and residents to adopt the new technology and provide correct and complete information.
The Absher service provides exit and re-entry visas for families and dependents, information on traffic violations, expiry dates of health insurance, Haj eligibility, expiry of vehicle insurance and renewal of vehicle licenses.
