RIYADH: It was a beautiful literary evening, filled with emotional expressions of love and compassion through Urdu prose and poetry, to bid adieu to Riyadh-based Pakistani poet, literary critique and veteran community leader Javed Akhter Javed.
Halqa-e-Fikr-O-Funn, a Pakistani literary and cultural body organized the farewell function over the weekend.
Presiding over the function, Pakistani Ambassador Manzoor Ul Haq praised Javed as a dedicated litterateur who served the Pakistani community with distinction during his decades-long stay in the Kingdom.
“You will be greatly missed here in the literary programs,” said the envoy.
Haq lauded Javed for his selfless community service and coordination with the embassy.
Shahbaz Hussain, ex-federal minister and patron-in-chief of Halqa-e-Fikr-O-Funn, extolled Javed’s extraordinary literary services and hoped his presence in Pakistan will add literary value to the homeland,”
he said.
Sajida Chauhdary, Halqa-e-Fikr-o-Funn’s vice president, earlier welcomed the audience to the program, which was jointly conducted by secretaries Waqar Naseem Wamiq and Hina Ambreen Tariq. Community leaders Arshad Sheikh, Tariq Aziz, Akhter ul Islam Siddiqui, Tasneem Amjad, Erum Qalbani, Khalid Mahmood Chauhdary, Hafiz Abdul Waheed Abdul Razzaq Tabassum, Muhammad Sabir Qashang, Shuaib Shahzad, Muhammad Riaz Chauhdary, president and Anjum Dar, founder Halqa-e-Fikr-o-Funn paid their tributes to Javed.
A memento was presented to Javed for his literary services on the occasion.
