RIYADH: The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) said here on Wednesday that as many as 40,000 Saudi students have enrolled in its various technical courses across the country for this year's training program.
It said that 43 new branches have been opened to accommodate the large number of applicants, and that it is still receiving applications on line.
TVTC said that so far, it received 30,600 applications from men for the diploma program in technical colleges, and 8,700 women applied in all regions of the Kingdom.
The program aims to produce highly qualified national cadres to work in areas that directly contribute to building the national economy.
The corporation said that about 4,120 people applied for a bachelor degree in the 37 Colleges of Excellence (CoE) for men and 19 for women so far.
Registration will continue until Aug. 25.
The training plan for the new year will include evening classes (from 4 to 10 p.m.), to start at the beginning of the first semester.
The evening training programs will be in the same disciplines as in the morning period.
The training program also includes a diploma program at all colleges, in addition to the undergraduate program.
The night program will provide the opportunity to obtain a diploma or a bachelor’s degree to young men and women who could not attend the morning program, as well as to develop and upgrade on-the-job qualification in both public and private sectors, in order to meet the labor market’s growing need for graduates of technical and professional disciplines.
