ABHA: Civil Defense teams evacuated several homes and closed down a filling station after a gas tanker overturned close to Quaira village in Leeth Governorate on the Riyadh-Khamees Mushait Road.

The tanker, which was carrying liquid gas, had skidded and overturned but no leakages were found. The driver was injured and taken to a local hospital. The area was cordoned off as a precautionary measure.

Capt. Abdel Ellah Al-Shahrani, assistant to the spokesman of the Asir Civil Defense, said many people were evacuated from their homes, a gas station closed down, and electricity cut off as a precaution.

He said that a Wadi Al-Dawasir Civil Defense team and police officers helped with the operations. Two tankers were sent to the location and transferred the gas. Each tanker carried 30,000 liters.
