JEDDAH: The Pakistani Consulate here has opened a new attestation facility with more seating capacity for the convenience of the large number of community members visiting the premises.
The facility was formally inaugurated by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Gov.Iqbal Zafar Jhagra along with Pakistan Ambassador Manzoor ul Haq on Monday.
Pakistan Consul General Shehryar Akbar Khan welcomed the guests including a large number of community members, on the occasion.
He highlighted the services provided to the huge number of Pakistani expatriates residing in the western region of Kingdom of the Saudi Arabia.
“Over 2,200 people visit the consulate for various services daily, as Jeddah has the largest concentration of Pakistani expatriates in the Kingdom,” said Khan.
According to Khan, the consulate provides services on a daily basis to approximately 900 applicants for machine readable passport (MRP) processing, collection of MRP (700), attestation of documents (180), manual passports (20), name correction/endorsement on passport (30), emergency passports (20), visa applications (20), renewal of NADRA cards (200), collection of NADRA cards (200) and welfare section. This is in addition to processing of emergency about 150 passports at the deportation center, he said.
The envoy said that overseas Pakistanis are the backbone of the country and have been contributing to the economy in a big way. “They deserve better services and facilities, which the government is obliged to provide. The newly-constructed hall will create more space for the huge number of applicants who visit daily,” he said
Jhagra said that all parties and people need to work together for the sake of democracy and the nation. “Stability is being achieved and were are on the way of progress.”
He also praised the diverse and vibrant Pakistani community in Jeddah and efforts made by the new consul general in bringing a big change to the working of the consulate.
