A Pakistani man was beheaded Thursday after being convicted of drug trafficking, the Interior Ministry announced.

Izzat Gul had been convicted of trafficking a “large amount” of heroin, the ministry said in statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency. The amount of drug found on him was not specified.

His beheading in Jeddah raised to 46 the number of executions carried out in the Kingdom this year, according to an AFP tally.

Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are punishable by death under the Kingdom’s law.
