The Future Generation Philippine International School (FUGEN) won first place in the Math Olympiad held at the American International School in Riyadh, late last month, Maricon Caro, the school’s principal said.

“We are indeed happy that FUGEN won. We have been participating in the contest for the last seven years,” Maricon Caro told Arab News.

The FUGEN candidates in the individual category were Chester O. San Pedro in first place while Aldrik Ernest M. Andulan came third. The second position went to the British International School.

FUGEN was also placed first in the group category while the British International School and American International School took second and third positions, respectively.

The participants in the group category included Razaane A. Awak, Eve Keziah S. De Leon, Julianne S. Jimenez, Rawan C. Minalang, and Joana S. Tria.

Caro, who received her master’s degree in education from the Philippine National University (PNU), added that the students had trained for the contests from October 2013 until February 2014 and allowed to rest after that in preparation for the contests.
