JEDDAH: The Ministry of Haj and Umrah established a special Ramadan tent at the Haj terminal to welcome Umrah pilgrims, starting Wednesday.
Abdullah Marghalani, assistant undersecretary for Umrah affairs at the ministry, along with other officials and journalists, welcomed the pilgrims with roses, gifts and an iftar packet at the Haj terminal.
Saad Al-Ghamdi, a ministry staff member, told Arab News that the Ministry of Haj and Umrah organized this Ramadan tent as it is a historical norm of the Kingdom’s government and people to welcome its guests, especially pilgrims coming for Umrah and Haj, with open heart.
He said that the tent will continue to welcome pilgrims until the end of Ramadan. Between 4,000 and 5,000 Umrah pilgrims arrive at the Haj terminal every eight hours.
Pilgrims who were welcomed by Marghalani and other officials expressed their joy and praised the hospitality of the Kingdom.
Rahma Basonni from Indonesia said that they were very pleased with this warm welcome which is a true picture of Kingdom’s hospitality, which they had read and heard about from many visitors to the Kingdom.
She said she is also very pleased that she came to perform Umrah, as this is the first time she has come to the Kingdom and will visit the Two Holy Mosques that have special meaning for Muslims around the world.
Another pilgrim, Fachruddin Mangunjaya, said he was overwhelmed by the greetings with flowers, gifts and iftar.
“This warm welcome shows the true picture of the Kingdom’s culture and hospitality. We were not expecting such a warm welcome.
It has really filled us with joy, and we are thankful to the Saudi government for greeting pilgrims with such a welcome,” he said.
