Jeddah police have arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of murdering a driver in his room in the Al-Safa neighborhood.

First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq, Jeddah police spokesman, said the two suspects and the dead man are Indonesian nationals. Police are questioning the suspects, he said.

Police sources said a citizen told police that the woman asked him for help because she had discovered his driver’s body in his room. The citizen said the woman was in a “hysterical” state. He was surprised that his driver had a relationship with the woman, he said.

A team of police officers went to the scene to gather evidence under the direction of Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Qahtani, director of Jeddah police.

A forensic expert concluded that the 28-year-old man had been dead for some time and had several injuries to his head, back and legs, probably caused by a heavy instrument.

The woman has lived in the country for seven years and is an illegal resident. Local media reported that she had a relationship with the dead man and often visited him in his room. The woman said she thought the man was asleep when she found him.
