RIYADH: The Riyadh Education Department has launched a program aimed at ensuring students adopt positive values.

The program targets in its first phase 11 schools at all levels of general education in Riyadh. It would help them develop psychologically, socially and academically.

Hiya bint Abdul Aziz Al-Awad, undersecretary at the Ministry of Education for female education, participated in the launch at a school in northern Riyadh.

Sahar Abdul Rahman Al-Attiyah, the project supervisor, said the program consists of guidance, counseling, evaluation and follow-up. Several officials are involved in the project, he said.

In a related development, Hamad Al-Shinaibir, assistant director of school affairs at the ministry, launched a campaign to attract volunteers to assist with various aspects of the education process. The campaign, which is being coordinated with the Ministry of Social Affairs, is meant to instill Islamic values and good citizenship in students through several programs and local competitions, he said.
