Government agencies are predicting cold weather with the possibility of strong winds bringing rain over the western and southern parts of the Kingdom beginning on Saturday evening.

A belt of rain clouds is expected to extend to the north and northeastern regions of Saudi Arabia increasing the chances of rainfall over these areas. There is also the possibility of heavy rain over the western region, Al-Baha, Riyadh, Qassim and the Eastern Province.

International observatories predict rain between Riyadh and the Eastern region, especially on Sunday and Monday and subsiding by Tuesday evening. The rain would be followed by a cold wave with north and northwesterly winds hitting the country by the middle of this week.

Most Gulf countries are expected to experience weather fluctuations with rain. The American National Weather Service has predicted severe weather fluctuations in mid-January with heavy rain in the Riyadh area and the Eastern Province.
