The Asir Municipality has intensified inspection tours on food establishments to protect consumers from hazardous meals. Two well-known restaurants in Abha’s Shamsan neighborhood were shut down for failing to meet health standards and putting customers at risk.

The two closed venues were known for offering breakfast and dinner meals, head of Asir Municipality Comprehensive Control Department Engineer Abdul Aziz Al-Qahtani told Arab News.

He added that the inspectors found two restaurants preparing meals in basements outside the restaurant areas, explaining that a larger team of the central sector of Abha raided the two places following careful observation.
