Mohammed Bakhrieba is founder of Call of Culture, an international cultural dialogue project. He came up with the idea after he traveled across Europe and America to mobilize youth, organizations and establishments to play a more active role to bridge the cultural divide between them.

Call of Culture was launched to promote a better international understanding between Saudi youth and their counterparts in Europe and the US through smart communications.

The project could be a valuable tool for Saudi diplomatic missions abroad to mark various events through volunteerism and social media, said Bakhrieba.

During his travels around Europe and the US, he discovered that it pays to cultivate good relations with local authorities. He added that Call of Culture would offer its support when needed by the Saudi diplomatic missions around the globe

Bakhrieba, who is also a Public Goodwill Ambassador for Ambassadors of the World (AWP), and an UN-WHO International Organizational Partner, said Call of Culture would use social media and international events of mutual interest to the youth in the interest of promoting international understanding between them.

“It’s a critical point for international community to bring ordinary individuals to a level of understanding and trust where people can co-exist and live peacefully,” said Bakhrieba. Social media networks give every individual the chance to advance their life style and reflect on different aspects of life on individual and social levels, he observed.

To this end, Call of Culture took part in the UN World Peace Day celebrations, where they met actor Michael Douglas and other UN peace ambassadors. The UN peace committee found Call of Culture to have an innovative approach toward promote peace through cultural dialogue, said Bakhrieba.

“After the event we have met Saudi youth in the States who were striving to promote their contemporary culture through media. Call of Culture articulated the ways of dialogue and approaches that rely on trust and mutual grounds. Mohammad Al-Hadad and Shahrezad Morssal, Saudi students in the US, have addressed some prototypes, which were very common in the US. Call of Culture finds the youth a great source of creativity and potential success for the project,” he said.

He explained that Call of Culture develops standards and protocols for individuals around the globe to build bridges and advance communication utilizing social media and other media outlets. They have developed protocols and standards for promoting Saudi Culture. The idea of a “call of culture” is to encourage people around the world to try to understand Saudi people and their culture in this era of globalization, Bakhrieba added.
