RIYADH: Saudi citizen Sultan Alamri’s body was found in bush land at Austinville in Queensland, Australia on Oct. 17 and was identified by Queensland Police.

The circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation and Queensland police are treating the case as a high priority.

The Australian Embassy in Riyadh offered condolences to the Alamri family. Neil Hawkins, Australia’s ambassador said, “We extend our deep condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Sultan Alamri over his sad and untimely death.”

The ambassador talked to Queensland’s deputy police commissioner who assured him they are working diligently to solve the case.

Ambassador Hawkins said the police are coordinating closely with Saudi officials from the Saudi Embassy in Canberra and keeping them and Alamri’s family informed on the progress of the investigation.

Ambassador Hawkins briefed the undersecretary of protocol affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the case.

He said Australia has always received excellent cooperation from Saudi Arabia and they would continue to work closely with Saudi authorities as the case progressed.

“We should allow the investigation to conclude before speculating on the circumstances surrounding Mr. Alamri’s untimely death,” he added.
