DAMMAM: The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) declared open the programs of “Saudi Summer 37” in the Eastern Province (EP) on Tuesday.

The event was held in the presence of SCTNH President Prince Sultan bin Salman and under the patronage of the EP Gov. Prince Saud bin Naif, chairman of the EP Tourism Development Council.

The Saudi Summer 37 festival is organized annually by SCTNH in collaboration with its partners in the Provincial Tourism Development Councils, besides tourism committees, government agencies and private sector on the Dammam Waterfront.

Hamad Al-Sheikh, SCTNH’s vice president for marketing and programs, said the Kingdom has started preparations for the launch of tourism activities and programs. Summer festivals are the most prominent events awaited by tourists and visitors, he said.

“Such events and programs contribute to tourism development. It is expected that this year’s summer festivals will offer a new experience in domestic tourism."

Saudi Summer 2016 includes various programs, including more than 70 festivals and 620, activities in all regions of the Kingdom, the official said, adding that this year’s events provide more than 7,000 temporary jobs for young people during the summer vacation.

“This year’s summer programs will witness several new features and better quality of activities, more attractive, entertaining and useful events for all age groups,” said Al-Sheikh.
