Private and international schools that violate the Education Ministry’s new school fee caps will be fined SR5,000 starting next year.

Schools that increase their fees again in contravention of the decision will not be allowed to raise their fees for two consecutive academic years.

The ministry had earlier announced that it has imposed financial and administrative penalties on 129 private and international schools.

The announcement comes amid efforts to control and limit irregularities at private and international schools.

The Council of Ministers had previously tasked the Education Ministry with reviewing and amending school fees and has given the parents of students studying at private and international schools the right to file complaints if school fees are hiked unnecessarily.
