RIYADH: The Ministry of Education has ordered all school managers to follow its admission rules for new applicants.

School managers should not reject applications if students do not have proof that they live in the area where the school is located. However, Saudi students, or students being treated like Saudis, should not be registered outside districts where they live.

Minister of Education Ahmed Al-Isa has approved rules and regulations for the registration of new students in grade one and schools teaching the Qur'an.

According to the ministry’s instructions, new non-Saudi students must present proof of residence if applying to study at a school where they live.

Those registering for grade one must be six years old. However, those under six years by 180 days can be accepted if they passed kindergarten.
