RIYADH: The Saudi Arabian Boy Scouts Association (SABSA) and the National Commission for Drug Control (NCDC) recently agreed on a joint cooperation on drug prevention.

They have decided to establish awareness programs for the development of scouting skills for drug prevention.

A delegation led by Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al-Fahad of SABSA visited the NCDC headquarters recently and held talks with the Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Sharif, the secretary-general of the anti-drugs body.

Al-Sharif talked about plans to prevent the spread of drugs and to reactivate the role of family members in preventive action strategies. He reiterated that the work of the NCDC intends to create awareness about the dangers of drugs and helps to instill moral values in children.

He praised the scouts association for its educational programs that contribute in guiding young people toward the right path, as well as for its active participation in community philanthropy programs and volunteerism.

He said SABSA’s social involvement will go a long way in the fight against prohibited drugs and in helping create a good and wholesome society, “not only for the present but also for our future generations.”

Al-Fahad commended the NCDC’s efforts to control and prevent drug addiction, especially among the youth who should be guided on the right path so that they do not take up drugs later on.

The SABSA delegation also toured the NCDC’s media unit established under the direction of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premier and the minister of interior.
