Chairman of Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) Prince Sultan bin Salman will speak at the second General Assembly Meeting of the Saudi Heritage Preservation Society, on Thursday. The event will take place in Riyadh at King Abdul Aziz Lecture Hall.

Prince Sultan announced that SCTA is donating two million riyals to the society in support of initiatives that are in line with the commission’s programs. He said the two bodies are partners and SCTA will continue supporting the society financially in all of its initiatives.

The Prince thanked the Chairperson of the Society, Princess Adela bint Abdullah, for her efforts in preserving national heritage.

He said SCTA has signed an agreement with Ministry of Islamic Affairs to work with the commission to preserve all heritage sites, including old Jeddah, which SCTA will push for registration in UNESCO World Heritage list this year.

The agreement was submitted to Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Development of Historical Jeddah   and Makkah Governor, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal.

SCTA is awaiting an approval by Council of Ministers regarding an Act that can bring a massive improvement in terms of preserving heritage and Islamic archaeological sites.

Prince Sultan said SCTA is working with municipalities to establish an integrated system for rehabilitating companies carrying out restoration works.

Requests have been received from businessmen interested in investments through the national company for hotels and heritage hospitality, which was approved by the Cabinet a month ago.
