JEDDAH: The Saudi security forces have continued their search operation for four persons, who are wanted for involvement in terror attacks.
The number of wanted terrorists announced last February has reduced from nine to four after four of them were killed during two consecutive security operations, while a fifth was arrested, a local newspaper reported.
Those who are on the run include Al-Sayari brothers, Tayae and Moteeh Salem Yaslam Al-Sayari; and Al-Shahri brothers, Majid and Abdullah Zayed Abdulrahman Albakri Al-Shahri. They are accused of plotting a suicide bombing at the emergency forces mosque in Asir that resulted in the martyrdom of 11 security members and four Bangladeshi workers. At least 33 people were hurt in the incident.
Earlier, the Ministry of Interior warned people against dealing with them or offering them any kind of help or service to avoid any legal responsibility, including charges of abetting terror acts.
Majid, a pilot, who holds a civil aviation certificate was earlier arrested by the Saudi authorities, but his prison sentence of four-and-half years was ended following a verdict issued by the Criminal Specialized Court in Riyadh. Subsequently, he was released in the month of Dul Qada, two years back.
Tayae Al-Sayari, on the other hand, was on a scholarship to study electrical engineering in New Zealand and was an outstanding student. However, two-and-a-half years ago, he told his family that he had joined the Daesh group in Syria. His brother, Moteeh, is number nine on the list of wanted terrorists. Moteeh studied at a technical institute in Dammam. He also told his family that he was planning to go and visit an injured person in the South. Yet, much to his parent’s surprise, he was found having gone to Yemen to join the terrorist ranks there.
