RIYADH: The Saudi National Campaign (SNC) to support Syrian brothers has stepped up the noble work of providing aid to the Syrians in various refugee camps in Jordan and Lebanon, during the holy month of Ramadan.
An official on Thursday said the SNC distributed 12,000 Iftar meals among the refugees at the border crossings of Bab Al-Hawa, Al-Salamah and Altin-Ouz as well as on the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo under its Ramadan help program.
He said that the food relief program on the Syrian-Turkish border and inside Syria is being executed with cooperation from the Turkish government and the relief organizations operating in the area.
According the the official, during this holy month so far, 60,000 Iftar meals have been distributed on the border crossings whereas the share of displaced Syrians within Syria was 48,000 meals; for Syrian refugees in Turkey, it was 12,000 meals.
The official praised the generous Saudis whose overwhelming responses and donations in this respect plays a key role in providing assistance.
He said that as part of the Ramadan program, the SNC also distributed 703 food packets among 3,885 refugees in Lebanese towns.
The SNC also delivered food parcels to 1,461 families under its Ramadan programin the Mafraq and Balqa areas of Jordan.
Notably, the SNC is working on humanitarian assistance in cooperation with local authorities in the respective countries and has signed an agreement with the Al-Tajmouat University, Amman, to distribute dry meals among the Syrians living in Jordan.
Earlier, the SNC also distributed dates, ahead of the holy month, among the displaced families.
Moreover, the medical assistance arm of the campaign — Saudi Specialized Clinics (SSCs) at Al-Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan is providing medical, therapeutic, awareness and preventive services unabated to thousands of Syrian refugees and also distribute free medicines and essentials including milk for kids with a significant impact on improving the living conditions of the refugees in the camps.
