JEDDAH: The Shoura Council has reformed its specialized committees for the fourth year, with women recording a strong presence in these committees as well as in the council.

According to local media, Hamda Al-Anzi was selected as head of the Committee for Social, Family, and Youth Affairs, while Thoraya Obaid will remain president of the Human Rights and Monitoring Committee.

Four other female council members were selected as deputies. Zainab Abu Talib (Health Affairs Committee), Huda Al-Halisi (Foreign Affairs), Dalal Al-Harbi (Administration and Human Resources) and Fatima Al-Qarni (Culture, Media, Tourism, and Antiquities).

In a statement following the session, Yahya bin Abdullah Al-Samaan, assistant chairman of the Shoura Council, said the council began the session by listening to the report of the General Secretariat for the Shoura Council.

The council then voted for the the heads of committees and their deputies. Faleh Al-Sagheer was selected as head of the Committee for Islamic and Legal Affairs with Thamer Al-Ghashiya as his deputy, while Dr. Abdullah Al-Otaibi was voted as head of the Health Affairs Committee with Dr. Zainab Abu Taleb as his deputy.

The Committee for Economy and Energy will be headed by Abdulrahman Al-Rashed and Fahad bin Juma, while Lt. Abdullah Al-Saadoun will head the Committee for Security Affairs with Lt. Ali Al-Tamimi. Naser Dawood was voted to head the Committee for Foreign Affairs.

Mohammed Al-Nuqli will resume his post as head of the Committee on Administration and Human Resources, and Mishaal Al-Salmi will lead the Committee for Education and Scientific Research, with Dr. Abdullah Al-Jagheeman as his deputy.

The Committee for Haj, Housing, and Services will be led by Mofrej Al-Zahrani and Mahmoud Al-Bedewi, while Ahmed Al-Zeleie will resume as head of the Committee for Culture, Media, and Tourism, and Antiquities.

The Committee for Finance will seeHossam bin Abdulmohsen Al-Angari resume as its head, with Mohammed Al-Ruheili as his deputy, while Ali bin Saad Al-Tukhees will remain head of the Committee for Water, Agriculture and Environment, with Dr. Attallah bin Ahmed Abu Hassan as his deputy.

Lt. Nasser Al-Otaibi was appointed head of the Committee for Transportation, Communications and Information Technology, and Awad Al-Asmari his deputy. Abdulaziz Al-Hadaq was appointed deputy to Hama Al-Anzi, head of the Committee for Social, Family and Youth Affairs.
