More than 250,000 students in the intermediate and secondary levels in Jeddah schools will sit their first semester examinations on Sunday.

“Question papers have been prepared in line with the standards of modern techniques for testing students. We have also taken steps for the systematic and disciplined conduct of the semester examination,” Abdullah Al-Thaqfi, director of School Education in Jeddah, told Arab News in an interview on the eve of the examinations.

Ahmed Al-Zahrani, assistant director of Educational Affairs, said supervisors of all administrations and offices would monitor the progress of the examinations and prepare daily reports until the end of the exams.

Al-Zahrani also appealed to parents to monitor the activities of their wards during the exam period.

Nour Baqader, assistant director of Educational Affairs, has instructed senior female officials to provide field support for the smooth conduct of exams, besides helping schools overcome the obstacles they face in arranging field inspection visits from education offices and for the drafting of daily e-reports.

Yahya Al-Qahtani, director of Examinations and Admissions at the Education Department in Jeddah, said all general committees for exams were striving to complete their duties sufficiently in advance. The committees have been charged with responsibilities such as verification, follow-up, technical support and support for the exams.

Al-Thaqfi have also supervised plans for the smooth conduct of the examinations and advanced preparations.

Ibrahim Al-Misnad, director-general of Education in the Riyadh Region, said schools and educational directorates have finalized preparations to accommodate students at the designated test centers. Tests will begin at 7:30 a.m. for daytime schools and 4:00 p.m. for evening schools, he said.

Waheed Khamis, director of School Health, said his department will open 82 health centers during the exams, of which 49 were allocated for male students and 33 for female students.

Huda Al-Suwaigh, director of Girls’ Testing and Admission at the Riyadh Education Department, said the department has formed a committee to follow up on the process of entering grades on the e-portals and keeping in contact with office managers on a daily basis.

Guardians of female students can easily access their results through the website, she said.
