Schools in the Kingdom will close for summer vacation on June 26, 2013 and reopen on Aug. 17, 2012, the Ministry of Education has said.
“Deputy Minister of Education Khaled Al-Sabti approved the academic calendar for the year 2011-2012 with uniform holidays and weekdays for all levels of school education,” spokesman of the ministry Muhammad Al-Dakhaini said in a statement yesterday.
“According to the calendar, there will be 18 weeks in the first semester including examinations and evaluation in all schools,” the spokesman said, adding that the students of primary schools will have only 17 study weeks in the second semester of this academic year.
The study plan for the primary level classes, special education institutes and programs, kindergartens and adult education schools will be redistributed starting from the second semester of the current academic year. The official said the plan included activities to intensify skills development programs for teachers on non-teaching days after examinations and evaluation, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
