The Kingdom’s top mathematics and science students have entered three of the most prestigious contests in the world this month, in a bid to win more medals internationally.

The Kingdom recently won a bronze medal at the Mathematics Olympiad for girl students in the State of Belarus and two gold medals and four silvers in the Gulf Mathematics Olympiad held in Kuwait in March, a local newspaper reported.

The Kingdom, represented by the Ministry of Education and King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) will compete in three competitions launched recently, the Balkan Mathematics Olympiads, Mendeleyev Chemistry Olympiad and the Asian Physics Olympiad.

Abdulrahman Alquwaizani, head of the Saudi International Olympiads, said the first contest started on Sunday and will last until this Sunday at the Mendeleyev Chemistry Olympiads in Armenia. Four students will take part, as part of their preparations for the 2015 International Olympiad in July in Azerbaijan.

“The second contest is the Asian Physics Olympiad 2015, which started on Sunday and will continue until next Sunday in China, with the participation of more than 30 countries,” said Alquwaizani.
