JEDDAH: A schoolteacher who is recuperating from injuries he suffered in a road accident has harnessed technology to stay connected with students, in order to complete the portion on time.

Yusuf Al-Luhaidan of Al-Muajel Learning Complex in Hotat Sadir, Al-Majma’ah, who is on a sick leave, records the lessons and posts it on YouTube from his home, local media reported Sunday.

“Al-Luhaidan met with a traffic accident a few weeks ago and his injuries have forced him to stay home in bed. However, he remains in touch with his students through the Internet,” Bajad Al-Rouwais, the principal of the learning complex, was quoted as saying.

The principal said the school receives the lessons and moves the students to the learning resources center to watch it. “The teacher also sends daily homework via e-mail, and receives the done homework through e-mail,” he said.

Al-Rouwais commended the efforts and initiative of the teacher, and his commitment toward his students to communicate with them despite being on sick leave. The teacher is expected to resume duty next week, he added.
