RIYADH: Two suspects have been held in connection with two separate murders in the capital last week.

Riyadh police spokesman Col. Fawaz Al-Maiman said one man in his thirties is being held for allegedly killing his brother during a dispute.

The second killing occurred in Al-Kharj when two parties were involved in a scuffle following a road accident. A man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a Saudi to death with a knife.

There was a third murder in the city last week. A man in his thirties was found dead in his car with three gunshot wounds in Al-Hazm district. The police had chased the suspect, who had shot and killed himself when cornered by officers, according to the police.

Al-Maiman said the public should not be misled about rumors circulating that violent crimes were on the rise. “We are transparent in all our activities and will let the public know about our day-to-day performance through the media,” he said.
