JEDDAH: The Special Criminal Court here has sentenced two men to a total of 27 years in prison for joining terrorist groups.

The first defendant, a Saudi, was found guilty of traveling to Yemen, participating in the fighting there, working with the second defendant to join Al-Qaeda, training in their camps, and publishing information prejudicial to public order on his Twitter account. He received a 12-year jail term and travel ban of equal length.

The second defendant was sentenced to 15 years for traveling to Syria to join Daesh, also known as the Daesh group, with a travel ban of equal length after his release. A total of SR26,000 found in his possession was seized under anti-money laundering laws.
