RIYADH: British Defense Minister Michael Fallon on Tuesday added his voice to the growing chorus denouncing the attacks on Saudi missions in Iran, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said on Tuesday.

Fallon expressed his sentiment during a telephone conversation with Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, second deputy prime minister and minister of defense.

The British minister also praised the Islamic alliance organized by the kingdom to fight terrorism across the region, SPA said.

The two officials further discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, SPA said.

The kingdom severed diplomatic ties on Sunday and froze commercial ties with Iran the following day after Iranian fanatics stormed the kingdom's missions in Tehran and Mashad in response to the execution of Shiite radical Nimr Al-Nimr in Saudi Arabia.

Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Jordan and Egypt have thrown their support behind Saudi Arabia.

At the same time, the Arab League denounced the attacks on the diplomatic missions and reminded Iran of the importance of "not interfering in the internal affairs of an Arab nation," according to a statement carried by Egypt's official MENA news agency.
