JEDDAH: Al-Jouf University has dismissed a number of faculty members who did not meet the academic standards and had a record of poor teaching.

Ismail Al-Bishri, the university's rector, noted that the university had partnership agreements with several research institutions to conduct research on the behavior of female students.

"The relationship between the university and society is mostly characterized by mistrust which can be addressed and corrected by visiting the university campus to become familiar with its efforts and aims," he said at a media event.

He invited Saudi professors to join the university but said some academic positions, such as those in the traditional disciplines, were already overstaffed.

"The university cannot sign a contract with any party for 15 days after advertizing the position in the media. A request must be submitted to the Ministry of Civil Service for the recruitment of applicants according to the required disciplines and conditions," he said.

He said the university welcomed professors of medicine, engineering, pharmacy, computer science, information technology, physics, chemistry and other scientific disciplines.
